Borage

Borage

With the warm weather coming our way, we’ll want to start showing some skin and getting ready for the sun. But, coming out of some cold weather, sometimes our skin is not what we want it to be. But don’t worry, I have an easy fix that leaves your skin and the rest of your body looking and feeling great.Borage, commonly known as starflower, has been found to have incredible effects on your body. As we start gardening, our hands become dry and cracked leaving a less than desirable result. Borage is known to help restore moisture and smooth out skin. Its also been shown to reduce stress due to its tonic qualities. Feeling down? Borage helps keep the body’s metabolic and hormonal system in check.  I love using it on my salads or frozen in ice cubes.

Now, I know we’ve all had those pesky bug bites and bee stings. In the summer, we want to show a little skin and no one wants to have swollen dots around their bodies. Borage can help! For centuries, its been used on bites and stings to help reduce inflammation. Borage helps treat the young and the old. Besides bites, it also has been shown to help reduce inflammation stemming from rheumatoid arthritis.  It’s known to drastically lessen the effect of cradle cap on babies!

Borage can be bought as a plant or as oil. The oil can be found at pharmacies and the plant can be found at nurseries.
