Vanilla

Family Orchidaceae. A large perennial vine that grows wild to a height of 75 feet or higher. The part used is the bean just before it is ripe. It is rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. Geography: Native to tropical areas. Most common in Mexico, India, Madagascar, Indonesia and Tahiti.

Historical Uses

Used as a flavoring and fragrance, and has been used for centuries as an aprhrodisiac and mood enhancer. It has also been used for its ability to fight free radicals, help soothe and calm irritated skin and for its bug repelling qualities.
