I met the founders of Aruna over a year ago, and I was incredibly touched by their mission. I knew right away this was a brand we wanted to work with. I also wanted to use our platform to bring awareness to the issue of human trafficking, because most of us don’t think about it nearly enough.
Aruna works with women who are survivors of human trafficking, in the US and abroad. What sets them apart is that they walk the walk. Giving a woman a job is not the finish line for them. They pay a fair wage. They provide health insurance. They help the women plan and save for retirement. They offer counseling and ongoing support. Freedom only lasts when a woman has stability, and Aruna builds that into everything they do.
The women who make Aruna’s bags and accessories are skilled Artisans, and the quality shows. Aruna also uses recycled and eco-friendly fabrics, so the care goes into the materials as well as the people. Aruna says 100% of its sales revenue goes back into freeing, employing, and empowering women.
That is why we asked Aruna to make our gifts with purchase. The Botanicals Give Back Bundle is $72. It comes with an Indie Lee cosmetic bag and a matching purple headband, both made by Aruna’s Artisans.
