Clove

Myrtle family (Myrtaceae). This evergreen tree can grow up to 65 feet tall and are rich in vitamins E & K and minerals such as iron, magnesium and calcium. Clove oil is produced from the crushed flower buds and leaves. Geography: It is believed to have originated in Indonesia and is native to Africa and parts of Southeast Asia.

Historical Uses

Historically, Clove oil has been used as a analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic to address dental issues.

Stories & Legends

The word "clou" means nail in French, which is what Cloves resemble and how the spice is believed to have gotten its name. Cloves were one of the first spices ever traded. Evidence of this dates back to ships from 1721 BC.
