Java Plum
Spondias Mombin
Family Anacardiaceae. Also known as Kakuadu Plum. Grows 30-90 feet tall. The parts used include the leaves, bark and flowers. It is believed to be higher in antioxidants than most other fruits. Rich in phenolic and galic acid and vitamins A & C (55% more vitamin c than Florida oranges). Geography: Native to tropical, lowland forests in the Americas and naturalized in parts of Asia, Africa and North Australia.
Historical Uses
Because research indicates it helps improve scalp and hair health and protects skin from free radical damage, restores the natural skin barrier and skins elasticity, and brighten skin, it can be found in facial masks, serums and moisturizers as well as shampoos and conditioners.
